Q: Who are Elsworth?
A: Elsworth Associates Ltd are based in Blackburn, Lancashire and we specialise in helping people reclaim mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).

Q: Are Elsworth a Solicitors or Law Firm?
A: Elsworth are a Claims Management Company regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of claims management activities.

Q: What is PPI?
A: Payment protection insurance (sometimes called "loan protection" or abbreviated as "PPI") covers a loan or debt repayments in the event of certain problems – for example, if a borrower is unable to work because of illness, accident or if a borrower is made redundant.

Q: What is Mis-sold PPI?
A: There are a number of reasons why PPI is regarded as mis-sold, for example:

  • consumers pay an excessively high price compared to standalone policies
  • the protection consumers buy includes too many exclusions
  • consumers are frequently subject to high pressure and unfair sales tactics

Q: What service does Elsworth provide?
A: Once Elsworth has taken on a case we do everything needed to get a refund of PPI payments – often amounting to many £1000's.

Q: What do we need to do during the claim?
A: Elsworth will send forms for you to fill in and may ask for additional information to help the claim, other than this you can leave everything to Elsworth.

Q: How long does a claim take?
A: This depends mainly on the lenders, but Elsworth have found it can take from 3 to 6 months on average.

Q: How much might we get back if we claim?
A: We will need to calculate the amount of your individual claim, this can be many thousands of pounds.

Q: Will the Elsworth service cost me anything up-front or during the claim?
A: Elsworth works on a "No Win No Fee" basis. This means that there are no up-front costs. Our fee only becomes payable once a claim is successful. A cancellation fee is payable if you decide that having instructed us, and after 14 days of signing our agreement, you do not wish to continue your claim with us.

Q: What happens if the claim is not successful, do we owe any money?
A: No, Elsworth only charge a fee if the claim is successful.

Q: How much will Elsworth fees be if the claim is successful?
A: Elsworth charge 25% (plus VAT) of the amount successfully reclaimed (including any loan reduction), there are no other charges.

Q: How many claims are successful?
A: If we take on your claim it will be because we believe it has a strong chance of success.

Q: Is there any other way I can re-claim mis-sold PPI?
A: Yes, you can instruct a solicitor or make a compliant yourself, each of these alternatives has different costs and chances of success on which we cannot advise you.

Q: If I wish to proceed what happens next?
A: Please ring us on 01254 368 741 and we will collect some additional information from you and then send you a pack which has all the information about your claim and our services, you will need to check all the information is correct and then sign and send the forms back to us.

Q: If I complete the forms can I change my mind?
A: Yes, you will get all the information to look at and once you have signed the forms you still have 14 days to change your mind at no cost.
